MANCHESTER UNITED RECENT RUN BASED ON FERGUSON ETHICS

Manchester United season has been one of two tales, with the squad which seemed incapable of winning games before November looking rejuvenated. The Arrival of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has played largely to this but one major key has been the return of the team to the Manchester United way.

This style of football was cultivated during Sir Alex Ferguson tenure at United and lasted 26 years filed with all trophies imaginable. However United made mistakes post-Ferguson, firstly appointing David Moyes who looked below par.

The arrival of possession based Loius Van Gaal and defensive oriented Jose Mourinho had seen the club deviate totally from the style that brought consistent success. The arrival of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has seen a switch in the mentality of the team.

United’s play has become more proactive as the team tries to move the ball as quickly as possible to the frontline. The Norwegian has utilized the passing ability of Pogba, the movement of Lingard, the trickery of Martial and the pace of Rashford to devastating effect.

This reminds us fondly of the passing ability of Scholes, the movement of Rooney, the trickery of Ronaldo and the pace of Tevez during the days of Ferguson.

The United way also depends on quality centre-backs and Victor Lindelof has looked assured at the back and looks like the defensive maestro player many saw when he made the move from Benfica last season.

This style of play has seen United control games against the smaller teams and revet to counter attacking football against the top teams.

The recent victories against Tottenham and Arsenal displayed United at their counterattacking best as the goals scored by the club n both games came from breaks.

The style is not perfect as seen in the recent draw against Burnley but United have shown in the past that Ferguson way is the right way for success.
